In 2021, after a long period of distance and silence, Christmas finally returned to what it has always represented - a moment of togetherness, family, and sharing. With this spirit, “Once upon a time” was born: a TV commercial created for Supermercati Decò, a story that blends the wonder of imagination with the magic of returning to normal life. It all begins with a familiar scene: two children, sitting at the table during the traditional holiday lunch, bored by the usual routine. From that boredom, imagination takes over - in their minds, candles and slices of panettone come to life, transforming into the heroes of a fairy tale inspired by the illustrated book gifted in Decò stores during the festive season. We curated every stage of the creative process - from initial sketches and storyboards to character design, visual development, and animation - merging illustration and live action into a single visual narrative. The dream fades when the children are called back by their family: it’s time to reunite and finally celebrate together. The production involved a complex and collaborative effort - cinematography, set design, styling, music, and sound design - to create a perfect balance between fantasy and reality.
